PHP Security Updates: Node.js, WordPress & Drupal | October 2026

A rainbow-colored PHP elephpant plush clutches a “THIS IS FINE” coffee mug in a server room engulfed in flames. Beside it, a worried blue Drupal drop holds a “STILL DEPLOYS THO” mug, while a cheerful yellow WordPress Wapuu hugs the WordPress logo. A laptop displays PHP, Node.js, and elephpant stickers. Scattered security patch checklists, spilled coffee, error-filled monitors, and burning server racks humorously depict the chaos of responding to a major PHP security vulnerability.

🔥 This is fine. Everything is fine. ☕🐘

October 21, 2026: It’s a big day for security patches across open source. Here’s what you need to know, straight from the projects:

  • 🐘 PHP: Two critical unauthenticated remote code execution vulnerabilities (CVSS 9.2). Update immediately to PHP 8.5.12, 8.4.27, 8.3.36, or 8.2.35. Official advisory
  • 🟢 Node.js: Multiple vulnerabilities, including high-severity TLS, DNS, and Brotli issues. Security releases available for 22.x, 24.x, and 26.x. Official announcement
  • 🟦 WordPress: PHP vulnerabilities affect WordPress hosting, not WordPress core itself. Update PHP; no WordPress core patch is required for these issues. Official announcement
  • 💧 Drupal: Urges site owners to update PHP immediately. This is a PHP infrastructure issue, not a Drupal-specific vulnerability. Official security advisory

Different vulnerabilities, same patch-day chaos. Sending coffee and solidarity to everyone updating servers today. ☕🔥
