Skype has added Facebook to the Windows version. This is helpful to see your News feed, as well as finding new contacts in Facebook to connect with via Skype. You can place a call to Skype users from Facebook inside Skype, request a connection, or even send text messages or calls to landlines. Here’s a quick tutorial video highlighting the main features.
Pros:
- Easy to find contacts
- Easy to call Facebook friends
- Can update your Facebook from within Skype
- Can call your Facebook friends from Skype to any phone they have listed
Cons:
- All my Facebook contacts can now find my Skype name – many requests to decline
- This version is only available on Windows
- Much easier to find the phonebook within Facebook – I actually like it relatively hidden
I do look forward to Skype for Mac being upgraded soon to include multiple video chats simultaneously. In addition, Facebook in Skype does look useful at times, but I doubt I’ll focus on the News Feed from within Skype.
