# How to register your website address

## Is your name available?

The first step in purchasing your website domain name is determining if the name is available. Obviously visiting the address you want will show if there is a page there or not. If you find a “Parked Page” that indicates someone owns the name, a visit to [WHOIS ](http://www.networksolutions.com/whois/index.jsp "WHOIS")will tell you who has purchased it. You may be able to purchase the domain name through a bargaining process. Otherwise, pick a new name and search again. After you determine the name, visit a name reseller, such as [GoDaddy](http://godaddy.com "Go Daddy"), to purchase your name. For further help, follow this quick tutorial:
